Living Hope
Psalm 27:7-9 – O Lord hear my voice when I call; Have mercy and answer. Of you my heart has spoken: “Seek his face.” It is your face, O Lord, that I seek. Hide not your face. You have been my help. Do not abandon or forsake me, O God my help!
When the waves of grief swell and break upon us like ocean breakers, soaking us with pain, then in that moment, have we felt abandoned and alone? With the Psalmist do we cry, “Do not forsake me, O my God, help!” Grief’s emotions roar within like the Niagara River cascading onto the rocks below. Logic fails. Memories intrude unwanted upon our day. We are benumbed. Our friends and families grow impatient. We just can’t seem to “get on with it.” At those times, one thing I do know from experience. God enters our lives. Others who have mourned are God’s agents of strength, comfort, and hope. I also know from personal experience, that because Jesus lives, and imparts the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, to me, I can face tomorrow. Believe the Good News.
In Jesus, there is hope.
Prayer: Holy Comforter, always you are there for us. Thank you for such steadfast, secure love. Abide with us for Jesus’ sake. Amen.
