How to Juggle Three Balls
Watch more Juggling & Circus Tricks videos: https://ift.tt/1ojwbYf
Juggling—the noble art of jesters and fools. Here’s how you can work your way up from juggling one ball to three.
Step 1: Assume the postion
Stand in a comfortable stance with your feet shoulder-width apart and your elbows bent at about a 90-degree angle.
Step 2: Start with one ball
Start by practicing throwing one ball back and forth between your hands in a nice, gentle arc. You want to keep your elbows in and your throws consistent, with the ball arcing at about eye level.
Tip
Using beanbags when you first begin can be helpful, since they won’t roll away when you drop them!
Step 3: Practice with your eyes closed
You’ll probably find that your throws go awry a little at the beginning, so keep practicing until you can throw the ball back and forth with your eyes closed.
Step 4: Add another ball
Add another ball. With one in each hand, throw a ball as before and—before it comes down—throw the other ball underneath so it lands in your other hand. Practice catching both balls.
Tip
As you practice, alternate starting with either hand.
Step 5: Add a third ball
Put two balls in your dominant hand and one in the opposite hand. Toss the balls just as before, but add a third throw right before the second ball comes down. Keep practicing until you can make three throws and three catches.
Step 6: Keep throwing and catching
Once you’re confident catching all three balls, add a fourth throw and catch, and a fifth one, and so on… Don’t look now, but you’re juggling!
Did You Know?
Did you know? ‘Joggling,’ jogging while juggling, is becoming a popular sport, and in 2007 a joggler finished a Toronto marathon in two hours and 50 minutes—while juggling three balls.

How to use others’ feedback to learn and grow | Sheila Heen | TEDxAmoskeagMillyardWomen
Most efforts to improve individual and organizational learning focus on teaching people how to give feedback. After years of consulting with organizations around the world on how to manage their most challenging conversations, Heen and her colleagues realized they may have been thinking about the problem the wrong way. She explains why, if you want to improve learning in your organization, the smart money is on figuring out how to receive feedback—even off-base or poorly delivered feedback—and use it to fuel growth.
With plenty of examples and a natural charm, Heen delivers a talk that will change the way you think about feedback. Most of us have a love-hate relationship with feedback, but Heen thinks we can learn to embrace it for the valuable tool it is. If we handle it right, we can use it to enhance our performance and strengthen our most important relationships.
A founder of Triad Consulting Group and a lecturer at Harvard Law School, Heen has spent the last 20 years with the Harvard Negotiation Project, developing negotiation theory and practice. Her work takes her throughout the world, helping people and organizations work through their most difficult conversations.
A New York Times bestselling author of two books, she specializes in particularly difficult negotiations – where emotions run high and relationships become strained. An expert often sought out by the media, Sheila is schooled in negotiation daily by her three children. Learn more about Sheila Heen at http://bit.ly/1IQ0azH.

How to stay calm when you know you’ll be stressed | Daniel Levitin
You’re not at your best when you’re stressed. In fact, your brain has evolved over millennia to release cortisol in stressful situations, inhibiting rational, logical thinking but potentially helping you survive, say, being attacked by a lion. Neuroscientist Daniel Levitin thinks there’s a way to avoid making critical mistakes in stressful situations, when your thinking becomes clouded — the pre-mortem. “We all are going to fail now and then,” he says. “The idea is to think ahead to what those failures might be.”

How to Survive a Plague – Official Trailer | HD | IFC Films
HOW TO SURVIVE A PLAGUE is the story of the brave young men and women who successfully reversed the tide of an epidemic, demanded the attention of a fearful nation and stopped AIDS from becoming a death sentence. This improbable group of activists bucked oppression and, with no scientific training, infiltrated government agencies and the pharmaceutical industry, helping to identify promising new medication and treatments and move them through trials and into drugstores in record time. In the process, they saved their own lives and ended the darkest days of a veritable plague, while virtually emptying AIDS wards in American hospitals in the process. The powerful story of their fight is a classic tale of empowerment and activism that has since inspired movements for change in everything from breast cancer research to Occupy Wall Street. Their story stands as a powerful inspiration to future generations, a road map, and a call to arms. This is how you change the world.
Official Selection: Sundance Film Festival, New Directors/New films, San Francisco International FF, Provincetown FF, Outfest Documentary Centerpiece, Seattle International FF
“Words like ‘important’ and ‘inspiring’ tend too often to be meaninglessly attached to non-fiction filmmaking, but in the case of David France’s compelling snapshot of a revolutionary period in AIDS treatment, they are amply justified… An epic celebration of heroism and tenacity, and less directly, a useful template for any fledgling activist movement, demonstrating the effectiveness of inside/outside strategy.”
-David Rooney, The Hollywood Reporter
“I sat down to watch “How to Survive a Plague,” a new documentary about the history of the AIDS epidemic, expecting to cry, and cry I did…I expected to be angry. Here, too, I wasn’t disappointed. What I didn’t expect was how much hope I would feel. How much comfort. While the movie vividly chronicles the wages of bigotry and neglect, it even more vividly chronicles how much society can budge when the people exhorting it to are united and determined and smart and right. The fight in us eclipses the sloth and surrender, and the good really does outweigh the bad. That’s a takeaway of ‘How to Survive a Plague,’ and that’s a takeaway of the AIDS crisis as well.”

How To Design A Good API and Why it Matters
Google Tech Talks
January 24, 2007
ABSTRACT
Every day around the world, software developers spend much of their time working with a variety of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). Some are integral to the core platform, some provide access to widely distributed frameworks, and some are written in-house for use by a few developers. Nearly all programmers occasionally function as API designers, whether they know it or not. A well-designed API can be a great asset to the organization that wrote it and to all who use it. Good APIs increase the pleasure and productivity of the developers who use them, the quality of the software they produce, and ultimately, the corporate bottom line….

Nowadays, in the prosperous world, we don’t only expect to obtain money through labour, we also, to a greater or lesser extent, expect to find meaning and satisfaction. Once you know the method, you can easily make this slime anywhere using just a bottle and a few basic ingredients.
BOTTLE SLIME RECIPE
1) Measure out the distance of your index and middle fingers from the base of the bottle.
2) Measure out the distance of your pinkie finger.
3) Add peel-off face mask or PVA glue
4) If using face masks, you can dilute it with some water
5) Add contact lens solution until the second line
6) Add 1/2 small teaspoon of baking soda
7) SHAKE!!!

TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS
1) If the mixture turns foamy then you added too much baking soda. This tends to happen with face masks since the mixture also contains soap.
2) If the mixture remains liquid then add a tiny bit (1tsp) of contact lens solution and shake again. Repeat if needed.
3) If the mixture still stays liquid, then add a pinch of baking soda.
4) Make sure you use glue that contains PVA (e.g. Elmers, Tesa, Pelikan, Fevicol)
5) Make sure you use peel-off face masks (other types do not work)
6) Don’t dilute the PVA too much otherwise it may not activate.

How To Control Anger – The Shocking Truth Behind Your Anger Problems

Video Summary:
We get angry when someone or something violates our standards, even though we may be the only one who knows what the standard is. People who are angry are operating at a low level of consciousness. Almost nothing out in the world can justify an angry outburst — the problem is on the inside, not with the world.
Giving in to your anger doesn’t reduce or purge it, but actually reinforces it, forming a bad habit.
Sometimes you can talk yourself out of the anger for the minute. Remember that the person you’re judging so harshly never agreed to abide by your standards. Can you accept that their value system may be different than yours? Ask yourself if you’ve ever done the same thing that you’re now judging so harshly. Think of some possible scenarios why they may have done it.
Your anger arises from the disintegration of part of yourself. Your anger is caused by repressing or denying something within you. Your ego can’t deal with the contradiction of the standard you wish to enforce, when you can’t uphold it yourself. So you project blame onto someone who exhibits the same behavior. Once you realize what shortcoming is making your so judgmental and angry, you can work to change it.

REI Presents: How To Run 100 Miles
In September 2017, I stepped up to the starting line of the Run Rabbit Run 100 in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, alongside my friend Jayson Sime. The race is a 102.9-mile ultramarathon with 20,000 feet of elevation gain, which is no small feat for a couple of guys who don’t know what they’re doing.
Jayson had talked me into it, and if I were to be completely honest, I’d say we were there to test out his life philosophy, which is basically that you can do anything you dream up, as long as you put in the work and refuse to quit. That ethic has worked for him in almost every other area of life, despite growing up in poverty, one of six children with no father, and dyslexia.
In the six months leading up to the race, we figured since we weren’t naturally talented runners, the best thing we could do is work hard. So we ran 50- to 70-mile weeks all summer, and went through a full range of feelings: fear, regret, sadness, FOMO, hunger, thirst, exhaustion, pain, and joy. And gluttony, which is not a feeling, but what happens after you run 20 or more miles.
How did the race go? You can watch our film, How to Run 100 Miles, to find out. No spoilers here.

Video Summary:
Everyone dislikes some things about themselves, but hopefully not everything. Learning to love yourself is so much more empowering than micro-analyzing your flaws through a magnifying glass. Every flaw presents you with a choice: you can try to change it, or accept it as part of you. That doesn’t mean that you should use character flaws as excuses not to grow, however.
Learning to tell yourself at close range that you love and accept yourself just the way you are can help you see how unnecessarily critical you’ve been of yourself. You’re so much more than a handful of flaws. Zoom your lens out to see yourself in a more accurate perspective.
Self-acceptance and self-improvement are not opposing forces. Ideally, learn to love who you are right now, and then from that amazing position, work to improve yourself.
Only from a position of loving yourself can you contribute your talents to the world. When you’re happy from the inside out, you exude happiness and can better design your life.

How to: Measure Blood Pressure
An introductory video explaining how to manually measure blood pressure. In this video, we are sharing with you the auscultatory method of determining systolic and diastolic arterial pressures. The cuff is placed above the antecubital artery and the cuff is above the upper arm. The stethoscope is placed near the antecubital artery and no sound will be hear when there is enough pressure to close off the artery. When the pressure is slowly released, the sound of blood jetting through the vessel by the vibrations of the wall is called the Korotkoff sounds. The first sound is also the systolic pressure. The diastolic pressure is when a muffled quality occurs. Please note that the sound is often overestimated because sound can still be heard even after deflation of the cuff. This method is not 100% accurate but will give values within the 10% range.

Script for Powerful Presentations: Simply Stated
By Marc Strong
Around the world every day, thousands if not millions of people give presentations. Some are great, and have a powerful impact on their audiences. Others…well, let’s just say they’re works in progress.
This is Powerful Presentations: Simply Stated
Meet Jim, an aspiring professional trying to make it in the world.
Jim used to give presentations like just about everyone else he knew. PowerPoint was his tool of choice.
He’d use it like an outline, with a header followed by bullet after bullet, and sometimes even sub-bullets!
When he wanted to be fancy, he’d add what usually turned out to be an ineffective chart or sometimes a table. And when Jim wanted to really spice things up, he’d add…yep…clip art.
Unfortunately, Jim’s approach would often confuse and bore people. This was a problem because he had important things to say. And because it was dimming his prospects for success.
Fortunately, Jim learned a better way and didn’t stay in the dark for long.
Perhaps most importantly, he now focuses on the story he wants to tell.
In doing so, he tries to follow a simple structure, with a clear beginning, middle, and end that links together his various points and builds to his conclusion.
When formulating his story, Jim uses a simple pad of paper or sicky notes. Staying low tech at this stage helps him think more creatively and stay outside the box.
He then considers what tools will help him best tell his story. Jim sometimes opts to use a whiteboard, flip charts, handouts, or even no props at all.
When it makes sense for him to use PowerPoint, he tries to remember the adage that sometimes “less is more.”
He doesn’t dumb down his presentations, but he does try to limit each slide to one key idea. Or, depending on the content, he sometimes builds an idea incrementally so it’s easy to follow.
He looks for visual ways to tell his story, with minimal text, photos, and clear charts and graphs.
Quote: “All the so-called “Secrets of success” will not work unless you do. -Unknown”
Sometimes he’ll use quotes, but he tries to remember that people can’t read his slides and truly listen at the same time.
Jim still uses plenty of text to help him remember what he wants to say, but he hides it in his notes that only he sees (show view notes screen).
Jim’s new approach takes more time, energy, and rehearsal, but it’s been well worth the effort.
His audiences are now much more engaged and better understand and remember his presentations.
And, as if that weren’t enough…(congrats on the promotion)…his pocketbook doesn’t mind either. (Pause)
This has been Powerful Presentations: Simply Stated.

ABOUT REBUS101:
“Quality, originality, consistency.” – David Herrera
Rebus101 is the graffiti “pen name” for musician, graphic novelist and filmmaker David Herrera. He began making films at University of California, Berkeley’s Film Department with Cannes & Sundance winner Rob Nilsson, co-writing the GreenCine Film Festival Award winning feature film “Security”. Herrera was soon accepted at Tisch (NYU Film School) where he wrote, produced, and directed an unofficial music video for Radiohead’s “How To Disappear Completely” which continues to attract more than a million YouTube views and excellent viewer ratings. Hired out of film school by music video veteran Bill Fishman, Herrera co-wrote the concept for the music video remake for Rick Springfield’s “Jessie’s Girl” and went on to produce a music video for David Byrne’s record label artists Zap Mama and Erykah Badu. Herrera formed his own production company Rebus101.com in 2004.
Herrera currently directs music videos for recording artists such as Rye Rye, Diplo, Andrew Bird, members of The Black Keys, The Killers, Of Montreal, The Decemberists, the Musical Director for Beyoncé, as well as selected independent recording artists. Herrera works with both Video Commissioners at major and independent record labels as well as directly with musicians to create video concepts that are spectacular, memorable, and thought-provoking. Herrera’s highly conceptual work has been exhibited at Berkeley Art Museum, Pacific Film Archive, and Museum Of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles. He has been profiled in Rolling Stone, Lively Magazine, MVDB.com, The Huffington Post, and Paste Magazine which recently named one of his productions among “The Best Music Videos Of The Decade”. He also currently teaches the first class ever offered by UCLA in Music Video Production, all while developing his graphic novel GÖLDEN into a musical feature film.

How to green the world’s deserts and reverse climate change | Allan Savory
“Desertification is a fancy word for land that is turning to desert,” begins Allan Savory in this quietly powerful talk. And terrifyingly, it’s happening to about two-thirds of the world’s grasslands, accelerating climate change and causing traditional grazing societies to descend into social chaos. Savory has devoted his life to stopping it. He now believes — and his work so far shows — that a surprising factor can protect grasslands and even reclaim degraded land that was once desert.

How to find and do work you love | Scott Dinsmore | TEDxGoldenGatePark (2D)
Scott Dinsmore’s mission is to change the world by helping people find what excites them and build a career around the work only they are capable of doing. He is a career change strategist whose demoralizing experience at a Fortune 500 job launched his quest to understand why 80% of adults hate the work they do, and more importantly, to identify what the other 20% were doing differently. His research led to experiences with thousands of employees and entrepreneurs from 158 countries. Scott distilled the results down to his Passionate Work Framework – three surprisingly simple practices for finding and doing work you love, that all happen to be completely within our control.
